VisibleThread is seeking an energetic, strategic Chief Technology Officer to lead our technical evolution as we scale our market-leading RFP intelligence platform across new markets and deeper into the US government contracting space.

This is a rare opportunity to shape technology strategy at a high-growth SaaS company where your work directly impacts how the world's most security-conscious organisations manage compliance, quality, and risk. Our software is used by 11 of the top 15 US government contractors - including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon - to analyse millions of documents and ensure mission-critical compliance.

Our AI-powered platform analyses vast quantities of documents and data, instantly identifying compliance risks, improving quality & clarity, and ensuring consistency.

We're entering an exciting growth phase, expanding across the Nordics, UK, EU, US and Australia, while deepening our AI/ML capabilities and maintaining our position as the RFP intelligence leader in the government contracting market.

Note - this is a remote first company, and this is a remote role, with some travel to Dublin for executive team and company meetings.

The Role

As CTO, you'll be the technical visionary and operational leader responsible for:

• Technology Strategy & Architecture
• Define and execute our long-term technology vision with robust, modern, scalable infrastructure
• Architect for high availability, performance, and security to support rapid growth
• Lead the integration of AI/ML and emerging technologies into our core platform
• Balance innovation with stability - evolving our stack while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability

Security, Compliance & Operations

• Own all aspects of information security and secure software deployment
• Champion compliance across products, maintaining adherence to government, industry, and customer regulatory standards (such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, GDPR where applicable). Responsible for SOC 2 compliance across our SaaS cloud, and internal IT infrastructure.
• Ensure SOC 2 compliance across our SaaS platform and internal infrastructure
• Define and implement IT and security policies across VisibleThread
• Ensure our platform operates in air-gapped, fully locked-down customer environments

• Platform & Technical Leadership
• Oversee both our cloud-based products and on-premises enterprise solutions
• Maintain a future-focused tech stack with minimal technical debt
• Set technical direction for engineering teams, guiding technology choices and architecture
• Work closely with our Chief Product Officer to align technology delivery with product vision
• Partner with our VP of Engineering who owns execution, people, and processes
• Engage directly with strategic customers on technical matters
• You'll report directly our CEO, and be a core member of the executive leadership team.

About You

• You'll bring:
• 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior technical leadership (CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, or Principal Architect)
• Deep expertise architecting and scaling cloud-based SaaS platforms
• Proven track record with deployment pipelines, observability, and modern technology stacks
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, FedRAMP, ISO 27001, or similar)
• Experience integrating AI/ML or advanced analytics into high-uptime production systems
• Track record leading technical teams in fast-moving, agile organisations

Highly valued:

• Experience with on-premise or air-gapped deployment models
• Background supporting enterprise or government clients
• Understanding of the US government contractor market
