Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Development (Core Responsibility)
- Actively code and contribute to production codebases on a daily basis.
- Work primarily with Java and React.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring quality, scalability, and maintainability.
- Debug, optimize, and improve systems running in production environments.
- Measure, monitor, and improve application performance in production.
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Design and oversee the architecture of robust, scalable solutions.
- Provide guidance on best practices, tools, and frameworks.
- Act as a mentor to team members, helping them develop technical skills.
Project Management:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute software projects with precision.
- Ensure deliverables are on time, within scope, and meet quality standards.
- Maintain clear, consistent communication with stakeholders and clients.
- Manage risks effectively and adapt plans as needed.
Team Leadership
- Lead and coordinate teams, mainly small, cross-functional teams (~5 people).
- Guide teams that handle the full lifecycle: development, QA, deployments, and maintenance.
- Mentor engineers through hands-on guidance and feedback.
- Set technical standards and ensure consistent execution across teams.
Communication and Collaboration
- Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Lead team meetings, sprint planning sessions, and retrospectives.
- Foster a positive team culture and resolve conflicts constructively.
Process Optimization:
- Drive the adoption and refinement of agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Streamline workflows to improve team productivity.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation for technical and functional aspects.
Requirements
Professional Experience:
- At least 10 years of experience in software development, with 4+ years in a technical leadership role.
- Demonstrated leadership of at least 4 teams.
- Strong proficiency in Java and React (mandatory).
- Familiarity with AWS and cloud-based architectures.
- Proven track record of hands-on coding and delivering complex projects.
- Strong background working in teams where as the Tech Lead you have been hands-on.
- Experience owning systems end-to-end, from architecture to production.
Soft Skills:
- Strong planning and prioritization skills.
- Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to push back, negotiate scope, and manage expectations.
- Leadership mindset with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
- High adaptability to changing priorities, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to move fast in evolving environments.
Languages:
- Native or advanced Spanish.
- Advanced English (required).
