As a Junior Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Specialist, you will play a foundational role in shaping how Ucaneo understands, quantifies, and improves the environmental performance of our Direct Air Capture (DAC) technology.
Because LCA is core to the credibility, optimization, and commercial viability of any carbon removal solution, this role requires strong methodological grounding and the ability to execute LCA work with rigor, traceability, and depth.
You will work closely with engineering, operations, and external partners, gaining exposure to how lifecycle data, operational learnings, and system design choices shape carbon performance, product direction, and commercial viability.
Key responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and continuously improve LCA models for DAC systems (from demonstration scale to commercial systems)
- Apply sound LCA methodology, including system boundary definition, allocation procedures, uncertainty considerations, and sensitivity analysis
- Populate and maintain Life Cylce Inventory (LCI) data using supplier, engineering, and operational inputs
- Support MRV-related data preparation, documentation, and consistency checks to ensure auditable, standards-aligned carbon accounting
- Analyze key environmental performance drivers (materials, energy, utilities, infrastructure) and identify hotspots and improvement levers
- Support internal and external reporting related to lifecycle carbon performance, including customer-facing and regulatory documentation
Your profile
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Ecology, Sustainability Science, Energy Systems, or a related fieldFirst hands-on experience with Life Cycle Assessment (academic projects, internships, thesis, or early-career roles)
- Familiarity with LCA tools and databases (e.g. openLCA, SimaPro, ecoinvent, GaBi)
- Understanding of LCA standards (ISO 14040/44)
- Curiosity for how environmental data influences technology design and decision-making
- Fluent English (German is a plus)
