About the Role:

Flogas Ireland is seeking an experienced Head of Data/Analytics to drive Flogas data strategy. This will include leading our data team (engineers, reporting specialists) to build data solutions, ensure data quality/governance, and translating complex analytics into business value. The role will require strong technical acumen, leadership, and stakeholder communication to drive data-driven decisions and innovation at Flogas.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision

  • Define, own, and continuously evolve the organisation's data strategy, ensuring strong alignment with overall business objectives and long-term growth plans.
  • Identify and prioritise high-value data opportunities that enhance decision-making, improve customer outcomes, and drive operational efficiency.
  • Establish a clear roadmap for data, analytics, and AI capabilities, balancing short-term delivery with long-term strategic value.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop multi-disciplinary data teams, including data engineers, analysts, and data scientists.
  • Build a high-performance, collaborative culture that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Set clear objectives, manage workloads and performance, and support career development and succession planning within the data function.

Data Governance

  • Establish and maintain robust data governance frameworks, ensuring high standards of data quality, accuracy, integrity, and consistency across the organisation.
  • Define and enforce policies relating to data security, privacy, and regulatory compliance, working closely with IT, Risk, and Compliance teams.
  • Act as a data steward, promoting best practice in data management and responsible data use.

Delivery & Execution

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable data platforms, analytics solutions, and data products.
  • Ensure reliable, timely delivery of insights and reporting that support both strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Manage data programmes and projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timelines, quality standards, and budgets.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to understand business challenges and translate them into data-led solutions.
  • Present complex data insights and recommendations in a clear, compelling way to executive and senior management audiences.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business, influencing strategy through evidence-based insights.

Innovation

  • Proactively explore and evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and machine learning, to enhance analytics capability and unlock new value.
  • Drive experimentation and innovation, developing new data products and advanced analytics use cases that support digital transformation.
  • Champion continuous improvement and future-focused thinking within the data function and across the organisation.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate for the Head of Data role will be a strategic and technically accomplished leader with a strong understanding of modern data architecture, databases, analytics, and advanced tools such as Microsoft Fabric, SQL, data visualisation platforms, and AI/ML technologies. They will have a proven track record of leading high-performing data teams, delivering complex data initiatives, and embedding a data-driven culture across the organisation. With strong commercial acumen, they will translate complex data insights into clear, actionable strategies that drive measurable business outcomes. An excellent communicator, the Head of Data will confidently engage with both technical teams and senior leadership, while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills to identify trends, address complex challenges, and implement scalable, impactful solutions.

About Flogas:

Part of the DCC Group, Flogas Ireland was established in 1978 supplying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) throughout the island and to this day remains one of the leading suppliers in Ireland, servicing a diverse range of market sectors, including commercial, agricultural, and domestic.

Flogas Energy was established in 2016 to facilitate entry into Natural Gas and Electricity markets. Flogas Energy has grown significantly through both acquisition and organic growth.

Budget Energy, based in Northern Ireland was acquired in 2020. Flogas Enterprise Solutions, (formally known as Naturgy) was acquired in 2021. More recently Flogas Energy has enjoyed strong organic growth and now serves more than 250k customers.
