At Cocoroco we are looking for a Back-End Developer to further build and scale our talent platform.

We are Cocoroco. We are building the most trusted talent platform that enables companies to easily connect with high quality remote talent. There will always be a need for skilled people and for a flexible and efficient way to find talent. Our platform unlocks the full potential of global talent. By combining remote work, a skill-based matching engine, and deep local market expertise, we connect companies with the right talent at scale. Companies such as Rituals, Picnic and Vodafone are already actively using our platform.
To build out our talent platform and integrations, we are now looking for a Backend Developer to join us at our Herengracht office in the center of Amsterdam. You will closely work with our tech and data team to launch innovative use cases that further strengthen our platform’s features and integrations. This gives you the opportunity to be part of a profitable and fast growing tech startup, with plenty of room to help define our data roadmap. The ideal candidate is able to take ownership of our backend layer and lead its further development.

Role
About the role
- Backend developer (Symfony, PHP)
- Reporting to Tech Lead
- Build, validate and maintain the backend of our talent platform web application
- Backend software development and third party API integrations
- Work closely with our tech team and external dev agency
- Build and optimize backend features with a focus on scalability, security and reliability
- Build and optimize RESTful APIs to support seamless frontend interaction
- Design and manage database architectures (MySQL) for efficiency and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve backend application performance, ensuring high availability
- Contribute to infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform
Technical skills:
- Proficiency in PHP and Symfony
- Strong knowledge of MySQL and database optimization
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
- AI and machine learning knowledge is a plus
- 2 - 5 years of work experience with backend development
- Proven track record of developing scalable backend applications
- Experience in database management and performance optimization
- Demonstrated ability to work on complex projects from concept to deployment
- Experience in managing and deploying applications in cloud environments
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience with SaaS, platforms, marketplaces, or AI-driven products
- Understanding of generative AI for backend interactions
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
