Job Description
We are seeking a security-focused and motivated intern to help secure our application landscape. The successful candidate will work closely with our application security, cloud security, and product development teams to identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities within our software. This role is crucial for proactively securing the applications that handle MSI’s most sensitive data.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing security assessments of web applications, APIs, and cloud services using a variety of security tools (SAST, DAST, SCA).
- Help triage, validate, and document vulnerabilities discovered through automated scanning and manual testing.
- Collaborate with development teams to explain security flaws and recommend remediation strategies.
- Contribute to the maintenance and tuning of our application security scanning platforms.
- Assist in developing and maintaining an inventory of applications, their data flows, and associated components to understand our security risk posture.
- Work with various teams across Motorola Solutions’ Products & Services Cybersecurity organization to ensure applications comply with secure coding standards and security policies.
- Help create reports and dashboards to provide insights into our application vulnerability landscape.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to improving our secure software development life cycle (SDLC) processes.
- Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard application security tools and methodologies.
- Develop skills in vulnerability analysis, risk assessment, and reporting.
- Enhance collaboration and communication skills by working directly with development and cybersecurity professionals.
- Gain a deep understanding of how security is integrated into the software development lifecycle in a modern enterprise.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Understanding of common web application vulnerabilities, such as the OWASP Top 10.
- Basic knowledge of a programming or scripting language (e.g., C++, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, especially when explaining technical concepts.
- Proficient in Google Suite or similar software.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and CI/CD concepts is a plus.
- Experience with security tools (e.g., Burp Suite, ZAP, Snyk, Veracode) is a significant plus.
