Summary:

As a Junior Java Engineer, you will join an Agile team within GPS Technology, working on the development of enterprise-grade payment solutions. Based in Poland, you will contribute to building backend services that power mission-critical systems, while gaining hands-on experience in software engineering, financial products, and large-scale distributed systems.

This role is ideal for early-career developers who want to work in a supportive, collaborative environment with access to global teams and modern engineering practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Backend Development: Design, code, test, and maintain Java-based microservices supporting banks payment platforms.
  • Agile Collaboration: Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, well-documented code aligned with banks coding standards and best practices.
  • Testing & Automation: Develop unit and integration tests using JUnit and other testing frameworks; contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Investigate issues and debug complex systems in collaboration with senior developers and platform engineers.
  • Documentation: Contribute to technical documentation for design specifications, service contracts, and deployment procedures.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Work alongside business analysts, product owners, and QA engineers to deliver secure and scalable software solutions.


Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • Strong foundation in Java (Java 8 or higher) and object-oriented programming.
  • Familiarity with Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and microservice architecture.
  • Understanding of SQL and basic database principles.
  • Experience with Git, Maven, or similar version control/build tools.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).


Desirable Skills

  • Exposure to Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
  • Familiarity with message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • Previous internship or academic projects in the banking, fintech, or enterprise systems space.
