Job Description: Product Designer / Industrial Designer (Cosmetics & Retail) — MARS Cosmetics

Location: Delhi NCR (or as applicable)

Type: Full-time

Role overview

We’re looking for a Product Designer / Industrial Designer to lead end-to-end design for new cosmetic products and packaging and for retail design (counters, kiosks, gondola bays, pop-ups, VM assets). You’ll translate briefs into manufacturable, cost-effective, brand-consistent designs and work closely with R&D, packaging engineering, sourcing, and retail teams to launch fast.

Key responsibilities

  1. Own industrial design for new products: component architecture, form factor, ergonomics, user experience, closure systems, applicators, materials/finishes.
  2. Design primary packaging concepts aligned to brand, price point, and manufacturing constraints.
  3. Create retail fixtures: counter/kiosk layouts, display modules, tester systems, signage integration, lighting, durability, safety, and serviceability.
  4. Produce 2D/3D deliverables: sketches, CMF boards, 3D CAD, renders, exploded views, and production-ready drawings/specs.
  5. Drive DFM/DFA with vendors: tolerances, parting lines, surface textures, decoration methods (hot foil, silkscreen, metallization, UV, etc.).
  6. Lead prototype cycles: 3D prints, mockups, pilot samples; validate look/feel, usability, and shelf impact.
  7. Partner with sourcing to optimize cost, MOQ, lead times, and standardize components where possible.
  8. Ensure designs meet regulatory/labeling needs and retail requirements (durability, theft resistance, refill/tester hygiene).
  9. Maintain a design system: brand cues, modular retail standards, component libraries, and approved CMF palettes.

What you’ll work with

R&D/formulation, packaging engineering, sourcing/vendor development, marketing/brand, retail/VM, and manufacturing partners (India/China).

Qualifications

  1. 3–8 years in industrial/product design (beauty/personal care/consumer products preferred).
  2. Strong grasp of manufacturing processes (injection molding, assembly, decoration, materials).
  3. Experience designing retail fixtures/POP and working with fabricators is a big plus.
  4. Portfolio showing shipped products + packaging + retail/fixture work.

Tools

  1. CAD: SolidWorks / Fusion 360 / Rhino (any strong equivalent)
  2. Renders: KeyShot / Blender / V-Ray
  3. 2D: Adobe suite / Figma (as applicable)

What success looks like (first 6–12 months)

  1. Faster concept-to-sample cycles with fewer iterations.
  2. Cohesive, premium-looking product/packaging design language across lines.
  3. Modular retail fixture standards that scale across stores while controlling cost.
