About the role:

At Area of People, we build more than just software: we create liveable neighbourhoods. Our AI-driven community platform connects residents with each other and with real estate providers - from investors to housing associations. This way, we support them in measurably strengthening their social impact.

We are looking for a UX/UI Designer who can set a clear product experience vision and make it real. This role goes beyond execution. You will identify problems, define experience principles, validate solutions with real users, and translate all of that into practical, scalable designs that teams can build on.

You will work across mobile and web, across residents and professional users, and across strategy and detail. This requires someone who is comfortable owning the full UX process, collaborating closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, and turning complexity into clarity.

In this role you will:

• Define and evolve the UX vision across our mobile and web products.
• Identify user problems through research, stakeholder input, and data.
• Design clear user journeys, flows, and interactions for both residents and professional users.
• Translate concepts into concrete wireframes and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Validate solutions through testing and feedback with residents and clients.
• Collaborate closely with product, iOS, Android, backend, and web teams to align design and delivery.
• Build, maintain, and evolve our design system across platforms.
• Work hands on in Figma with components, tokens, and documentation.
• Ensure accessibility, usability, and consistency across all products.

Who we are looking for:

• Strong experience in UX and UI design for complex digital products.
• Ability to set direction and make design decisions, not just follow requirements.
• Experience designing for multiple audiences with different needs and goals.
• Comfortable working directly with stakeholders, including clients and end users.
• Strong sense of structure, systems, and scalable design.
• Able to move between high level thinking and detailed execution.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, spoken and written.

Skills and experience that will help you succeed:

• Advanced experience with Figma, including components and design tokens.
• Experience building and maintaining design systems for mobile and web.
• Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
• Experience in SaaS or B2B2C environments.
• Understanding of how designs translate to real implementations in mobile and web development.
