What does a Software Developer do at NextGen?Join our Engineering team as a Software Developer and contribute to building and enhancing our core products. You will work across the full software development lifecycle to design, implement and maintain features that deliver value to customers. This role suits a collaborative, delivery-focused engineer who enjoys solving problems and improving systems in a regulated, production-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities:Complete assigned development tasks to the technical specification;
Understand and implement our standards for:
- Agile processes
- Development practices
- Source code management
- Testing & Peer ReviewInvestigate and remediate assigned defects, help tickets etc;
Work with the Technical Lead to translate user stories into well defined development tasks and technical specifications;
Develop code meeting business and functional requirements as articulated in business user stories.
2+ years of professional software development experience.
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js).
Experience building and testing RESTful APIs and working with SQL servers.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices and the software development lifecycle.
Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is advantageous.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and effective communication in cross-functional teams.
