Its AI development teams work end-to-end — from early maturity assessments and solution design to implementation and large-scale deployment — combining deep expertise in data engineering, data science, and machine learning.

The Role

As Lead AI Engineer – Generative AI & NLP, you will act as a technical authority and force multiplier for NLP, LLM, and agent-based systems.

You will take end-to-end ownership of key technical topics, work as Technical Lead on demanding client projects, and support multiple initiatives in parallel. In addition to hands-on system design and delivery, you will advise colleagues, contribute to acquisition and positioning activities, and help shape the organisation’s Generative AI capabilities.

Your Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert for NLP, LLMs, and agent-based architectures
• Take end-to-end responsibility for one or more core technical topics in Generative AI
• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for complex GenAI and NLP questions
• Design and lead production-ready Generative AI and NLP systems, optimised for performance, latency, cost, scalability, and complexity
• Coordinate closely with internal teams and client stakeholders
• Present technical solution concepts and support technical communication in proposal and acquisition processes
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and constructive feedback to less experienced colleagues
• Contribute to the development of internal products and the expansion of the AI service portfolio
• Support professional marketing and thought leadership initiatives
• Continuously track advances in NLP, LLMs, tools, frameworks, and research, and actively translate them into client solutions

Your Profile

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Data Science, NLP, Machine Learning, or Generative AI
• Deep expertise in NLP- and LLM-based systems, with proven production deployments in complex use cases
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• LLM APIs and agent frameworks
• Vector databases and retrieval-based approaches
• Evaluation methods for GenAI systems
• Very good knowledge of modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch, including fine-tuning, post-training, and inference optimisation
• Ability to develop clean, performant, and scalable code and reliably bring AI systems into production
• Experience with cloud-based architectures and MLOps / deployment workflows on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Confident technical presence when interacting with clients and stakeholders
• Structured, proactive, and independent working style, even in highly complex environments
• Very good German and English skills (C1 level or higher)
