Our client, a highly successful international trend-setter in the development of innovative, technologically advanced optical products, is looking for a key team member who will assemble and lead a team of embedded software engineers focused on SONiC-based Optical Circuit Switch platforms.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Define and drive architecture and technical direction for embedded and SONiC-based software supporting optical switching platforms.
  • Lead design, development, and debugging of software features.
  • Ensure compliance with upstream SONiC releases and internal standards.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a small team of embedded software engineers.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and innovation.
  • Oversee career development, performance management, and hiring in Slovenia.
  • Participate in global architecture reviews and planning sessions.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation, testing, and lifecycle support.
  • Support product validation and customer escalations when needed.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience managing or technically leading embedded software teams.
  • Strong background in embedded Linux development and multi-threaded systems.
  • Hands-on experience with SONiC (platform services, containers, or SAI).
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in a distributed environment.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Debian packaging, CI/CD, telemetry (gNMI/gNXI), and fault management.
  • Knowledge of datacentre security concepts (secure boot, platform hardening, authentication/authorization, secure management interfaces).
  • Experience with modern SDLC practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps principles.
  • Programming proficiency in C++, Python, Go, or shell scripting.
