Join our Digital & IT team as a Senior Backend Engineer within Amaris’s e-commerce practice. You will work alongside cross-functional teams and clients to accelerate feature delivery, ensure platform resilience for product launches and campaigns, and drive continuous improvement of back-end services and integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accelerate delivery of e-commerce features to maximize conversion and readiness for launches, drops, and global campaigns
- Design, implement, and operate scalable, reliable, and secure event-driven microservices
- Elevate engineering quality through code reviews, mentoring, automated testing, and thorough documentation
- Own and continuously improve integrations with external systems (Algolia, Yext, Adyen, DAM, PIM, ERP/OMS, CRM)
- Implement event-driven workflows using Azure Service Bus with idempotency, dead-letter queues, retries, and backpressure
- Containerize services with Docker, run on Kubernetes, and manage deployments via GitOps with Argo CD
- Monitor and troubleshoot operational issues using Datadog (APM, logs, metrics) and Sentry (error monitoring, release health)
- Configure and optimize CDN/WAF solutions (Cloudflare or Akamai) for caching, rate-limiting, bot mitigation, and edge rules
What We’re Looking For:
- Academic background: BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Experience: 5+ years of professional backend engineering with production ownership and demonstrated design/operation of distributed event-driven systems; familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- English language: Fluent written and spoken English
- Tools / software: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, REST/OpenAPI, GraphQL; Azure Service Bus or similar (SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, Kafka); PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis; Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD; Datadog, Sentry; Git (branching, pull requests), CI/CD pipelines
- Soft skills: Strong time management and organizational skills; clear communication and design documentation; ownership mindset with a bias for action; product sense and experimentation mindset; rigorous debugging and incident-handling capabilities; effective code review and mentoring
