Junior Data Engineer

Alfa Laval
Poland · Full-time · Entry

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

At Alfa Laval, we believe in delivering true business value through the SAFe methodology. Our Sales & Service value stream empowers digital customer and employee experiences with cutting-edge solutions. Our Global Data Analytics Hub (GDAH) is a modern platform on Microsoft Azure, supporting analytics, real-time monitoring, data science, and machine learning.

About The Role

As a Junior Data Engineer, you’ll work across the data pipeline - from source systems to visualization - using the latest Microsoft Azure technologies. You’ll help accelerate analytics implementation in our Global Data Analytics Hub, collaborating with business stakeholders to define requirements, design, develop, configure, test, and maintain analytics solutions. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to impactful projects in a supportive environment.

You don’t need to know everything from day one! We’re looking for someone eager to learn, with a solid foundation and a passion for data engineering. You’ll be mentored by experienced colleagues and encouraged to explore new tools and technologies.

Your Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business teams to gather and clarify requirements
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and analytics solutions on Azure
  • Participate in the full data lifecycle: ingestion, transformation, and visualization
  • Test and document solutions to ensure quality and maintainability
  • Stay updated on analytics trends and participate in tool evaluations
  • Contribute to a collaborative, agile team environment

We are Looking For

  • 2+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer or Business Intelligence Developer
  • Familiarity with Azure Analytics tools (Databricks, SQL Spark, Python Spark, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, etc.)
  • Exposure to BI development methods and patterns
  • Experience working in agile teams (SAFe/Scrum) is a plus, but not mandatory
  • Understanding of Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse concepts (Lakehouse, Kimball modeling) is a plus, but not required
  • Strong communication, initiative, and collaboration skills
  • Eagerness to grow and take on new challenges

What We Offer

  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Supportive, collaborative work environment
  • Exciting projects with the latest technologies
  • Attractive salary and benefits (private medical care for you and your family, lunch card, MyBenefit platform, etc.)
  • Flexible working hours (start between 7:30 and 9:30 am)
  • Hybrid work schedule - 3 days a week from the office, 2 days from home
  • No formal dress code
  • Annual integration events and employee volunteering opportunities

Our Recruitment Process

  • Pymetrics behavioral assessment games
  • Screening call with TA Partner
  • Technical interview with our team
  • Final interview focused on your competencies

We care about diversity, inclusion, and equity in our recruitment processes. We also believe behavioural traits can provide important insights into a candidate's fit to a role. To help us achieve this we apply Pymetrics assessments, and upon application you will be invited to play the assessment games. Playing the games is mandatory.
