What does a Software Developer do at NextGen?
In this role, you will build and deploy functional code by translating technical requirements into effective software solutions. You will actively participate in the development lifecycle by reviewing peer code and providing constructive feedback to ensure high quality. Additionally, you will be responsible for testing and debugging your work to maintain a reliable and performant codebase.
This role would suit an entry level developer or recent graduate looking to kickstart their career.
Key responsibilities:Design, implement and maintain scalable, secure and efficient software using modern programming languages and frameworks.
Write clean, maintainable code and unit tests following best practices and coding standards.
Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback and help mentor junior engineers.
Collaborate with product managers, designers and QA to define requirements and deliver features on time.
Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues, and contribute to incident post-mortems and remediation plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience, or relevant professional certifications.
Experience using one or more of: Java, C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or similar languages.
Experience with web frameworks (e.g. Spring, .NET, Django, Express, React, Angular, Vue) and RESTful API design, would be advantageous but not essential.
Familiarity SQL servers.
Understanding of version control systems, particularly Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team.
