Job Title: Senior Scrum Master (Freelance Contract)

• Daily Rate: Up to €250/day
• Primary location: Florence (company headquarters)
• Work model: Mostly remote
• Onsite presence: 1–2 times per month in Florence
• Eligible locations: Anywhere in Italy

Role Description

For one of our top-tier financial services clients operating in a complex enterprise environment, we are looking for a Senior Scrum Master to support multiple Agile teams in a highly technical domain.

The Scrum Master will play a key role in enabling Agile delivery across three teams, working closely with Product Owners, technical teams, and a Transformation Manager. The ideal candidate is an experienced Agile facilitator with a strong delivery- and measurement-oriented mindset, capable of operating at a technical team level and ensuring the correct application of Scrum and/or Kanban practices in complex organisational contexts.

Experience in financial services (banking, insurance, financial institutions) is a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Act as Scrum Master for up to 3 Agile teams in a technical domain (e.g. data platforms / data hub environments)
• Support Product Owners in backlog management and prioritization
• Organise, facilitate, and continuously improve Scrum ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Reviews, Retrospectives)
• Promote and spread the Agile mindset within teams and across the organisation
• Support teams in value creation, delivery objectives, and continuous improvement
• Identify, manage, and help remove impediments and delivery blockers
• Ensure correct understanding and application of Scrum and Agile principles
• Manage and apply Agile methodologies (Scrum and/or Kanban) appropriately
• Coordinate interactions between teams, stakeholders, and the Transformation Manager
• Monitor delivery progress and Sprint outcomes
• Define, track, and report Scrum and delivery KPIs, with a strong focus on measurement
• Ensure compliance with internal processes, Chapter guidelines, and agreed timelines
• Use and manage Agile tools, particularly Jira
• Foster strong relationships within and across teams
• Provide regular reporting and status updates to management

Requirements

• 3–4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master
• Proven experience managing multiple Agile teams simultaneously
• Strong practical knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Experience working with technical IT teams (data, platforms, or similar domains preferred)
• Ability to engage at a technical level with development teams
• Experience in complex or enterprise environments
• Background in banking, insurance, or financial services is a plus
• Strong delivery focus and experience with KPI-based performance tracking
• Hands-on experience with Jira
• Ability to report effectively to senior stakeholders and transformation leadership
• Fluent Italian (mandatory)
• English: nice to have

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Lean / Agile Portfolio Management frameworks
• Agile or Scrum certifications (CSM, PSM, SAFe, etc.)
