The Opportunity
A leading US-based engineering consultancy is expanding its European data centre operations and is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead delivery across a portfolio of major projects.
This senior role will operate client-side, providing strategic and operational oversight of multiple data centre developments across Europe. The Operations Director will act as the primary interface with clients and will oversee General Contractors (GCs) and delivery teams to ensure consistent, high-quality project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership across a portfolio of European data centre projects
- Act as the client’s senior representative, overseeing project delivery and performance
- Manage and govern General Contractors, ensuring adherence to programme, cost, quality, and safety targets
- Implement and maintain delivery standards, governance frameworks, and best practice across projects
- Oversee project controls including programme, cost, risk, and change management
- Coordinate internal teams, external consultants, and specialist vendors
- Ensure compliance with European regulations, client standards, and global engineering best practice
- Report to senior client and business stakeholders on operational performance and risk
- Support strategic growth, resource planning, and contractor procurement
About You
- Proven experience in an Operations Director / Project Director / Senior Programme leadership role
- Strong background in data centres, mission-critical, life sciences, or complex industrial construction
- Extensive experience working client-side and managing Tier 1 General Contractors
- Strong commercial and contractual expertise
- Experience managing multiple projects across different European jurisdictions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel regularly across Europe
