Integrated Planning and Execution (IPE) organization is seeking a Senior Network Planner to join the Network Supply Planning team in support of the APAC regions. This role is responsible for aligning and maintaining long term network plans to support our rapidly scaling global cloud and AI infrastructure. The person in this role will develop and maintain the network plans for Microsoft’s backbone and metro network. The right candidate will work with the stakeholders to drive clarity and decisions across the teams on infrastructure sourcing signals by integrating with the various demand and supply planning organizations, as well as with the engineering and business groups. In addition, the role will assist in process and systems optimization for the infrastructure planning process.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain short-, medium-, and long-term network plans for Microsoft backbone, metro and physical network infrastructure
- Analyze demand and supply inputs; document and report network plans to support strategic decisions
- Coordinate with finance and acquisition teams on financial analysis and sourcing strategies
- Drive key decisions required for alignment on strategic long-term plans
- Serve as the SME interface between business, engineering and acquisition teams
- Lead process and tooling optimization for infrastructure planning workflows
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in networking and telecommunication industry, OR equivalent experience
- Experience with datacenter infrastructure
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional and/or cross-team projects
- Excellent communication and documentation skills to drive projects and build buy-in and support
- Proven track record in planning and designing large-scale optical networks for backbone and metro infrastructure
- Experience in planning and operating physical network and datacenter infrastructure
- Comprehensive understanding of IP networks
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate multiple inputs and translate them into strategic infrastructure plans
- Big data analytics and reporting, leveraging tools such as Azure Data Explorer and Power BI - OR equivalent tools
