We are seeking to hire a Scientific Manager for our Belgian offices (WFH/hybrid).
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Computational Biologist / Bioinformatician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computational biology and data analysis. An important focus of the candidate will be overseeing the program management of a key account, focusing on project deliverables, internal & external communication, (pre)scoping new projects and standardizing documentation.
Who are we looking for?
- You either hold a PhD degree in the domain of bioscience engineering, bioinformatics, statistical data analysis and have at least 1 year of industry experience or have 5+ years of equivalent work experience if you hold a MSc degree. You can demonstrate your experience in computational biology via peer-reviewed publications, contributions to public code repositories or relevant project work.
- You have acquired project management skills / experience outside of academia.
- You are organized and can keep all stakeholders aligned across multiple projects.
- You have in-depth knowledge of Python and R.
- Expert knowledge in one of the following fields is a plus: microbiome analysis, RNAseq (bulk, sc or spatial), WES/WGS, …
- You can plan, organize and execute several computational projects independently & simultaneously, communicating effectively with stakeholders along every step of the way, being guided by your team lead or program manager.
- You are able to summarize large amounts of results in a concise way, and effectively present them to clients within and outside your domain.
- You can manage multiple projects at the same time, effectively (re)assigning tasks.
- You are eligible to work and live in Belgium (hybrid setting: 1x/week @ office location in Ghent) and are open to visit our customers on-site on a quarterly basis.

- You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary environment with people of diverse professional backgrounds (IT, (molecular) biology, chemistry, statistics, etc.) .
- You are communicative and customer focused.
- You are fluent in English, both written and verbally.
- You take initiative and have an eye for new opportunities.
