The Role

A leading organisation in the renewable energy sector is seeking a Senior Project Manager to deliver large-scale infrastructure projects across wind, solar, battery storage, and grid development.

This role is responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery from early development through construction, commissioning, and operation. Working within a structured programme and PMO environment, the Senior Project Manager leads individual projects to ensure commercial, technical, and financial success in line with governance and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects through all phases, including planning, commercialisation, construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams in a matrix structure, working with PMO guidance, technical specialists, and operational stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
• Ensure alignment with organisational strategy, governance frameworks, and portfolio priorities.
• Manage procurement of construction contracts, support negotiation of long-term offtake agreements, and assist in securing project financing.
• Monitor budgets, forecasts, and cost controls across the project lifecycle, ensuring financial viability and value for money.
• Support portfolio-level financial reporting and compliance requirements.
• Finalise planning consents, permits, and statutory approvals and ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, and grid requirements.
• Identify and mitigate compliance and delivery risks, escalating where appropriate through programme governance structures.
• Act as primary project lead for internal and external stakeholders, including contractors, regulators, technology suppliers, and community partners.
• Prepare investment approval documentation and provide regular updates on project risk and performance to senior stakeholders.
• Plan and manage operational handover to ensure readiness for full-scale operation and integration into the wider portfolio.
• Deliver accurate and transparent project reporting in line with PMO methodologies and organisational standards.
• Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of project delivery processes.
• Promote strong health, safety, and welfare standards and actively participate in performance management processes.

Candidate Profile:

• Third-level qualification in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline (Master’s degree advantageous).
• Minimum 10 years’ experience delivering large-scale energy or infrastructure projects, with at least 5 years in a Project Manager role within the energy sector.
• Professional project management certification (e.g. PMP or equivalent) desirable.
• Strong commercial capability, including budget control, procurement, contract management, and resource optimisation.
• Solid understanding of regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex stakeholder environments.
• In-depth knowledge of project management principles, with experience delivering projects using lean or outsourced delivery models.
