DevOps Manager – Cloud Platform (AWS)

An established FinTech is looking for an DevOps Manager to take ownership of its cloud platform foundations. This position sits at the heart of the company’s technical operations, guiding how core infrastructure is designed, maintained, and evolved across a large-scale AWS environment.

The successful candidate will combine hands-on cloud expertise with strong leadership skills, ensuring the platform remains secure, compliant, efficient, and ready to support global growth.

About the Role

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for the strategic direction and day-to-day performance of the cloud platform function. You will:

• Shape the future architecture of the company’s AWS environment and define the technical direction for the platform team
• Create and maintain an engineering roadmap that supports business expansion and platform reliability
• Oversee the build, automation, and optimisation of core infrastructure services, including networking, observability, and deployment tooling
• Ensure that systems meet stringent regulatory, security, and audit requirements
• Support the integration of new business units and acquisitions into a unified AWS operating model
• Act as a mentor and technical guide for engineers, helping them navigate complex design and operational challenges

Team Leadership & Delivery

You will manage a group of infrastructure and platform engineers, taking responsibility for:

• Ensuring consistent delivery against commitments and team capacity
• Setting expectations around reliability, performance, documentation, and operational excellence
• Tracking key measures such as uptime, security posture, throughput, and cost efficiency
• Creating clear processes around on-call, SLAs, and support readiness
• Identifying opportunities to reduce cloud spending through tooling, automation, and architecture choices
• Recruiting, developing, and retaining high-calibre engineering talent

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone who has:

• A proven background leading engineering teams responsible for cloud platforms
• Experience working within environments that must meet strict compliance and audit requirements
• Deep knowledge of AWS at scale, including networking patterns, IAM, cost optimisation, and automation
• Strong familiarity with Kubernetes, container orchestration, IaC tooling (such as Terraform), and modern CI/CD practices
• Experience improving observability, platform security, and operational processes
• The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear direction for stakeholders at all levels
