How you’ll demonstrate Ownership
The AI Lab is looking at solving valuable industrial problems for our customers, using generative AI and other cutting edge technologies. We are looking for a researcher with hands-on experience from developing generative AI models. We want individuals with a rigorous approach who measure their improvements and have worked on applications pushing the boundaries of the state-of-the-art in some area. As a principal AI researcher, you will ensure that the AI Lab at Cognite is moving towards ambitious goals, with measurable results. Cognite has large amounts of proprietary industrial data which presents unique opportunities for solving advanced problems or even training generative AI models not possible outside.

How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

As a principal AI researcher, you will ensure that the AI Lab at Cognite is moving towards ambitious goals, with measurable results. Cognite has large amounts of proprietary industrial data which presents unique opportunities for solving advanced problems or even training generative AI models not possible outside.
The Impact you bring to Cognite
- Assess the feasibility of various innovative AI-based solutions, as well as ideate new ones
- Wrangle data, set up training pipelines and train models
- Ensure that we are using the right data and metrics to measure progress on AI features
- De-risk crazy ideas by prototyping to the point where we can decide on whether to productize or shelve them
- Publish novel work, or patent IP if deemed important to Cognite
- Share your knowledge with the rest of the team and broader in Cognite
- 5+ years of experience developing AI driven systems or applications
- 3+ years of experience training Machine Learning models, preferably time series, image recognition, or NLP models
- Good overview over the AI ecosystem and standard ways of working
- Strong coding fundamentals within common Machine Learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Jax, ect.)
- Strong development background with experience in implementing good practices for evaluation and benchmarking of AI models
- Strong theoretical understanding on how statistical models learn, fundamentals of deep learning, and the transformer architecture
- Understanding of how AI models fit into user experience and what it takes for models to reach the level necessary to create good user experience vs. what is annoying
