Senior Network Consulting Engineer


Location: Walldorf, Germany (Onsite)

Duration: Up to 184 business days (project-based)

Role level: Senior Engineer / Senior Consultant


Role overview


We’re looking for a Senior Network Consulting Engineer to provide onsite managed services supporting an enterprise customer’s network operations in Walldorf. You’ll work side-by-side with the customer’s operations team to troubleshoot complex incidents, support change implementation, and validate new functionality in an existing lab environment. You’ll also help drive knowledge transfer to internal and customer teams.

This role combines hands-on operations with advisory support across design, rollout, and continuous improvement.


What you’ll do


1) Ongoing design & rollout support

  • Attend design review workshops and service meetings.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations for incremental design changes, including:
  • Known/potential risks
  • Expected impact on the current environment
  • Support IPv6 design and rollout across the campus/office network.
  • Participate in proof-of-concept activities where needed.
  • Use the customer’s lab infrastructure to:
  • Verify cross-regional campus-fabric functionality
  • Test region-specific scenarios and use cases
  • (Note: You won’t be expected to author full design documents, but you will advise on design questions and feature implementation.)

2) Proactive change management support

  • Act as a designated point of contact who understands the environment and internal processes.
  • Review and support maintenance window procedures.
  • Be on standby during maintenance windows and assist with:
  • Technical execution of changes
  • Maintenance preparation
  • Upgrade planning and readiness checks
  • Configuration support related to service requests

3) Operations consulting (expert troubleshooting + escalation)

  • Partner with the customer and internal support organizations to resolve critical incidents and chronic issues.
  • Support open service requests with the vendor’s support organization.
  • Troubleshoot complex Severity 1/2 incidents, including impact and risk assessments.
  • Produce root-cause documentation and prevention plans:
  • Identify root cause(s)
  • Test/verify most probable cause
  • Recommend corrective and preventive actions
  • Share detailed knowledge of design, components, and configuration to speed restoration.

4) Knowledge management & enablement

  • Conduct remote/onsite knowledge transfer sessions to strengthen operational readiness and deployment understanding.
  • Provide informal training that complements formal classroom learning.
  • Agree on a knowledge session schedule jointly with stakeholders.


Required technical experience (mandatory)


At least 2 years of hands-on experience in all of the following:

  • Network controller / automation & assurance platform
  • (provisioning, assurance, operations/maintenance)
  • Software-defined campus / fabric networking, including:
  • LISP
  • fabric components and roles
  • micro-segmentation
  • identity services integration (e.g., policy-based access control)
  • design, deployment, and troubleshooting
  • Modern enterprise switching (access/aggregation/core) in large campus environments
  • IPv4/IPv6 routing, including:
  • BGP
  • IS-IS
  • OSPF

Nice to have

  • IPv4/IPv6 multicast

Optional

  • Scripting / automation experience (Python, Ansible, Robot Framework)
