Senior Director – Technology Delivery & Transformation (Banking) - Contract – Dublin (Hybrid) – 12 months


Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Director level Technology Delivery Leader to lead large-scale banking transformation programmes. This role is responsible for driving complex, multi-stream delivery across digital, core banking and platform teams, ensuring high-quality execution while modernising technology and operating models.

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone who has run large, mission-critical programmes (120+ staff) within tier-1 banks or financial services organisations, ideally including mobile and digital banking platforms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and govern large-scale technology delivery programmes spanning digital, mobile, core banking and data platforms
  • Own end-to-end programme execution, delivery assurance and financial control
  • Drive technology transformation initiatives (cloud, digital platforms, DevOps, modern engineering practices)
  • Manage 120+ delivery staff across multiple workstreams, vendors and geographies
  • Act as the senior point of contact for CIO, CTO and business leadership
  • Align business strategy with technology execution, ensuring measurable outcomes
  • Establish and enforce delivery standards, governance, and risk management
  • Oversee mobile and digital platform delivery (iOS, Android, backend APIs, integration)
  • Lead remediation of underperforming programmes and recovery of at-risk initiatives
  • Support vendor management, contract negotiations and commercial oversight


Required Experience

  • 15+ years in technology delivery within Banking or Financial Services
  • Proven experience operating at Director / Senior Director / VP level
  • Led large delivery organisations (120+ engineers, architects, analysts, testers, DevOps)
  • Strong background in enterprise software development & delivery
  • Experience delivering digital banking and mobile platforms (preferred)
  • Track record of leading major transformation programmes (cloud, core modernisation, digital, agile)
  • Deep understanding of banking systems, payments, channels, and regulatory environments
  • Experience working with onshore, nearshore and offshore teams
  • Strong experience in programme recovery, risk management, and stakeholder leadership


Technical & Delivery Background

  • Enterprise software delivery (Java/.NET, APIs, microservices, data platforms)
  • Digital & mobile platforms (native or hybrid mobile architectures)
  • Cloud transformation (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • DevOps, CI/CD, modern SDLC
  • Agile at scale (SAFe, Spotify, or equivalent)


Leadership & Stakeholder Skills

  • Executive-level communication with C-suite and Board
  • Proven ability to run multi-vendor, multi-country delivery models
  • Comfortable making hard commercial and delivery decisions
  • Strong governance, escalation, and risk ownership mindset
  • Able to operate in high-pressure, regulator-facing environments


Nice to Have

  • Experience in mobile-first banking or digital-only banks
  • Experience in large-scale platform modernisation
  • Experience with PSD2, Open Banking, Payments or Core Banking transformations
