ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?

We want you to be a part of our team, from Luxembourg, as Data Engineer. The objective of this assignment is to provide the Bank with the necessary IT and data engineering support to strengthen and further develop the PROVAL unit’s valuation systems, notably the in-house SPVAL application.

WHAT WILL YOU DO IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will contribute to the later phases of development of the SPVAL application, with responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Supporting the digitalisation and enhancement of an in-house Excel-based valuation model for venture debt and direct equity valuations
  • Modelling valuation and calculation features using the Python programming language
  • Designing and prototyping model interfaces, including front-end and back-end data models, using the OutSystems platform, to support the IT development team in implementing these components in SPVAL (Java / React)
  • Developing and maintaining ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines
  • Using SQL for data validation and backend integrations
  • Working closely with business stakeholders, in particular the PROVAL unit, to gather requirements, understand business needs, and translate them into Python models and OutSystems prototypes
  • Liaising with the IT development team to support the integration of Python models and to explain OutSystems prototypes for final implementation in SPVAL
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of processes, analyses, and project decisions for audit and future reference purposes, including detailed Python model documentation in line with the EIB Group Model Risk Policy, and supporting valuation model validation activities
  • Collaborating closely with the Product Owner to ensure alignment with project priorities, backlog management, and timely communication with stakeholders
  • Coordinating with other impacted teams (e.g. Integration, Data Warehouse) to identify and manage cross-functional dependencies
  • Designing test cases together with QA engineers to ensure full coverage of functional and non-functional requirements
  • Supporting testing activities, including end-to-end testing of complex workflows (e.g. SWIFT imports, reconciliation processes)

Requirements

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of modelling reporting universes and creating reports using SAP Business Objects
  • Solid knowledge of Oracle SQL
  • Good understanding of data modelling best practices
  • Proven ability to work professionally in English
  • Strong expertise in Python programming

Mandatory Experience

  • Experience with banking applications
  • Experience in lending or middle-office systems, such as:
    • Guarantee Calls
    • Cash & Liquidity Management
    • Rate Setting
    • Advisory Services
    • Capital Markets
    • Provisioning & Valuation
    • Mandate Management
  • Minimum one year of professional experience in projects requiring Python development
  • Prior experience working for or with International or European organisations
