We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer II to join Fairmarkit’s Product Design team with a primary focus on Design Systems and Visual Foundations. You’ll lead the evolution of the system that powers our product UI — ensuring experiences are cohesive, scalable, and exceptionally crafted as we grow.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of systems thinking, visual craft, and cross-functional leadership, and who can set direction for how design scales across teams and product areas.
Why this role matters
Fairmarkit supports procurement teams making high-stakes purchasing decisions every day. The Design System is a direct multiplier on our ability to deliver clarity, trust, and efficiency across every workflow. At the Senior Product Designer II level, you won’t just contribute to the system — you’ll set its direction, drive adoption across teams, and raise the visual and interaction quality bar for the broader product experience. Your work will shape how fast we can ship, how consistent we feel to customers, and how confidently teams build new experiences.
Responsibilities : What You’ll Do
Design System leadership & evolution
- Own Fairmarkit’s Design System. Define where the system needs to go next and why, aligned to product strategy, customer needs, and scale.
- Lead system roadmap and prioritization. Identify gaps, risks, and opportunities; drive a proactive roadmap that supports multiple product teams.
- Own and evolve reusable patterns. Create and refine foundations, components, and complex patterns with thorough edge-case thinking and clear standards.
- Drive adoption at scale. Align designers and engineers around system usage, run enablement, and make the system easier to adopt and harder to avoid.
- Ensure accessibility and quality by default. Build WCAG-aligned accessibility, interaction states, and responsive behavior into the system from the start.
- Partner deeply with Engineering on parity in code. Influence implementation decisions, align on tokens/behavior/specs, and ensure system quality in production.
- Define and uphold visual standards. Set the bar for typography, color, spacing, elevation, iconography, data-viz, and UI expression across the product.
- Deliver high-craft UI for key workflows. Lead or co-lead visual execution on high-impact surfaces to model quality and direction for other designers.
- Create scalable visual assets. Build and maintain system-aligned icons, illustrations, empty states, and visual patterns that reinforce a cohesive language.
- Champion consistency and reduce drift. Audit experiences, spot inconsistencies, and guide teams toward a unified product feel.
- Simplify complex experiences visually. Apply strong hierarchy and layout thinking to procurement-heavy, data-dense workflows so they remain clear and approachable.
- Lead alignment across stakeholders. Bring PM, Eng, and Design together around clear goals, tradeoffs, and system direction.
- Measure and communicate impact. Define success metrics for system health and adoption (quality, usage, efficiency, customer experience) and iterate based on outcomes.
- Stay close to product problems. Ensure system work supports real, current product needs.
- Partner deeply with Engineering. Align on tokens, component behavior, parity in code, and QA.
- 7–9+ years of experience designing digital products, ideally B2B SaaS or enterprise platforms.
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual/UI craft and design systems leadership (foundations, components, patterns, documentation, adoption outcomes).
- Proven ability to set vision and strategy for a system or product area and drive it through ambiguity.
- Strong cross-functional leadership with Product and Engineering; experience influencing roadmap decisions.
- Expert Figma proficiency (libraries, components, variants, auto-layout, prototyping).
- Deep understanding of responsive UI, interaction states, and accessibility.
- Comfort designing for complex data structures and multi-role enterprise workflows.
- English proficiency at B2+.
- Tokens or coded library experience. Experience partnering on or co-owning design tokens and coded component libraries (e.g., Storybook).
- Enterprise domain familiarity. Procurement, ERP, fintech, or workflow-heavy products.
- UX writing skills. Strong microcopy instincts for system and product clarity.
- Enablement experience. Leading workshops, critiques, or trainings to drive adoption.
- Tooling familiarity. Maze, Miro/FigJam, Confluence, Jira, etc.
Headquartered in Boston, and backed by a $35.6M Series C co-led by OMERS, Highland, Notable Capital, Insight Partners, and ServiceNow. We are looking for exceptional candidates who want to help grow our company into a global enterprise and make their mark on the B2B tech industry. Come soar to new heights with us!
