Position Overview:

We are seeking a talented Senior Java Developer to join our established team on a permanent basis. You will be joining the Product development team helping add new features to multiple owned and managed applications. This is an exciting opportunity to develop experience and skills in our full software tech stack, working in an exciting product space.

This is a Brisbane based role with hybrid working. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust Java-based enterprise applications within an AWS DevOps environment.
• Work with modern Java frameworks, including Java 21+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Hibernate.
• Build and document RESTful APIs using YAML-defined specifications.
• Integrate with a range of services and technologies (REST, SOAP, messaging via queues/topics).
• Apply strong Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) principles to ensure clean, maintainable code.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile, fast-moving environment.
• Deploy, optimise, and troubleshoot applications using AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, SNS, SQS, and RDS.
• Contribute to backend services powering mobile applications, including:
• REST API integrations
• Authentication and authorisation flows
• Push notification services integration
• Secure data exchange



Qualifications & Experience:

• 10+ years of Java development experience, with deep knowledge of Java 21+.
• Strong expertise with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, and both modern and legacy Hibernate.
• Hands-on experience deploying and optimising applications in AWS cloud environments.
• Solid understanding of SQL, performance tuning, and relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar).
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and adapt quickly in fast-changing environments.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered.
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to JavaScript, HTML, TypeScript would be highly regarded
• Experience with Docker and deploying applications on AWS ECS
• Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.
