🛠️ Your scope of responsibilities

As a Java Backend Developer at LingoHub, you will develop scalable backend services. Additionally, you will contribute to projects related to intelligent translation automation.

Your responsibilities 📌

• You develop high-performance and maintainable Java services (Java 25, Spring Boot 4.0) that serve as the foundation for our AI functionalities.
• You build APIs that are enjoyed by both humans and machines – clear, fast, and well-documented.
• You design and maintain robust code architectures and ensure seamless integration into our AWS-based infrastructure.
• You work with large datasets and relational databases, designing efficient data models and optimizing SQL queries for performance and scalability.
• You are involved in AI-based features such as automatic translation, semantic search with embeddings, and terminology checking.

You enjoy working on complex requirements and translating them into clean, functional code. You think along, act pragmatically, and reliably get things running.

Your Stack️ 🛠️

• Java 25, Spring Boot 4.0 with REST interfaces
• SQL (Postgres), Redis, JOOQ
• Docker, AWS
• OpenSearch or pg_vector for text and vector search

Your Skills ✅

• At least 3 years of experience in developing Java-based applications – production-ready and reliable.
• Experience with modern backend architectures as well as clean, well-designed API development.
• Interested in AI, NLP, and language processing, or at least not afraid to dive into it.
• Structured working style, clear communication, and a strong hands-on mentality.
• Curiosity and pragmatism, combined with the ability to think beyond the code to deliver real value for users.
• German or English – as long as we understand each other well.

Nice-to-have 💡

• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures or Prompt Engineering
• Knowledge in handling AI tools and frameworks such as LangChain4j, HuggingFace, or OpenAI APIs
• Experience with evaluating AI features in live operation, e.g., through A/B testing.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in developing Java-based applications – production-ready and reliable.
• Experience with modern backend architectures as well as clean, well-designed API development.
• Experience with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures or Prompt Engineering is a nice-to-have.
