Role Overview
The Scrum Master is responsible for driving the team’s delivery performance and ensuring that defined governance standards are consistently applied throughout the development lifecycle. The role focuses on team coordination, documentation traceability, and continuous improvement to achieve high-quality and timely delivery of releases.
The Scrum Master works closely with their team while maintaining strong alignment with the Release Train Engineer (RTE) and fellow Scrum Masters to ensure coherence across teams operating within the same release train or program.
Key Responsibilities
A. Scrum Team Coordination
- Ensure sprint commitments are delivered by owning delivery at sprint and release level, guaranteeing scope, quality, and timing objectives are met.
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, with a strong focus on outcomes and delivery risks.
- Act as the main escalation point for the scrum team by identifying, managing, and escalating blockers or risks in coordination with the Tech Lead.
- Monitor and report delivery progress using tools such as Jira dashboards, burn-down charts, and delivery KPIs, and provide concise updates to the Tech Lead.
- Enforce Agile discipline according to defined standards, ensuring backlog hygiene, Definition of Done, test coverage, and quality gates are respected.
B. Documentation & Traceability
- Produce and maintain technical and functional documentation, including specifications, architecture notes, and system behavior descriptions.
- Ensure full traceability by linking requirements, user stories, defects, tests, and releases in Jira or ALM tools to guarantee auditability and compliance.
- Coordinate documentation contributions from developers, testers, and architects into consistent and harmonized documents.
- Lead document review and approval cycles by organizing review sessions, collecting feedback, managing versions, and securing formal sign-off.
C. Governance, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Support release readiness and handover to testing and DevOps teams by verifying that test evidence, defect logs, and deliverables are complete.
- Maintain knowledge repositories in tools such as Confluence or SharePoint, ensuring they are structured, updated, and easy to navigate.
- Capture lessons learned from sprints and releases and integrate improvements into future delivery practices.
- Coach the team on delivery excellence, promoting accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Guarantee compliance with defined internal, contractual, and regulatory standards across documentation, processes, and deliveries.
