Head of Data – (North Brabant, NL)
I'm partnered with a fast-growing, technology-driven e-commerce scale-up headquartered in the North Brabant region. Following a significant new investment round, the company is accelerating its European expansion and strengthening its data capabilities to support rapid growth. With 500+ employees across multiple countries and a culture built on innovation, collaboration, and customer obsession, they are now seeking a Head of Data to lead and elevate the entire data function.
As the Head of Data, you will be responsible for defining and executing the company’s data strategy, ensuring data excellence across analytics, business intelligence, data science, and data engineering. You will lead a growing team of data professionals and work closely with leaders across Product, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and Engineering to build a data-driven organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and scale the Data organisation, including BI, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Analytics teams.
- Define and implement the company-wide data strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and growth ambitions.
- Drive the maturity of data governance, data quality, and data lifecycle management across all markets.
- Oversee the development of robust data infrastructure, pipelines, models, and dashboards to support decision-making at scale.
- Work with C-level and business leaders to identify high-impact data opportunities and embed data-driven thinking across the organisation.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to enhance data availability and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with European data regulations (GDPR, privacy, security best practices).
- Manage budgeting, tooling choices, team hiring, and performance management within the Data department.
- Champion a culture of experimentation, measurement, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience leading data teams in a scale-up, e-commerce, retail, or technology-driven environment.
- Strong technical foundation with hands-on understanding of:
- Business Intelligence tooling (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau, dbt)
- Python for data transformation, modeling, and automation
- SQL at an expert level
- Modern cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
- Demonstrated experience building or maturing data capabilities at scale.
- Deep understanding of data governance, data modeling, ETL/ELT, and data architecture principles.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience operating in multi-country or pan-European environments is a plus.
