What is the role?
As a Product Manager at Howden, you will lead the evaluation and delivery of technical solutions that drive collaboration and efficiency across the client value chain. These solutions include AI-driven products, data platforms, and enterprise technologies. You will define product strategy, manage vendor relationships – including partnerships with AI innovators – and ensure alignment with Howden’s transformation goals while maintaining compliance and governance standards.
The ideal candidate brings strong product management expertise, a deep understanding of data-driven solutions, and a passion for exploring AI capabilities. You excel at aligning diverse stakeholders around a shared vision and translating complex requirements into functional outcomes. You will manage product backlogs, set priorities, and work closely with engineering, business, and analytics teams to deliver impactful solutions. What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and transformation objectives.
- Drive engagements with development partners, managing requirements, delivery timelines, and stakeholder expectations.
- Evaluate and select technical solutions, including AI, data products, and platforms, to support global business needs.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee external delivery partners.
- Ensure compliance with governance, data protection, and security standards in partnership with legal, risk, and IT teams.
- Collaborate with global business units to identify requirements and translate them into functional specifications and user stories.
- Partner with other Product and Service Owners to ensure consistency and integration across initiatives.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships across geographies and organizational levels.
- Prepare executive-level presentations and updates for senior leadership.
- Facilitate communication between IT and business teams to drive alignment and continuous improvement.
- Use analytics and stakeholder feedback to optimize product performance and employee experience.
- Incorporate change management principles into rollout plans to support adoption and engagement.
- Drive adoption of new technologies across the organization, ensuring successful implementation and user engagement.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Deep understanding of product management principles and Agile methodologies.
- Ability to define product vision, roadmap, and prioritize features effectively.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Experience translating business requirements into functional specifications and user stories.
- Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and security best practices.
- Collaborative leadership skills to align cross-functional teams.
- Interest in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve business outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Product Management, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of product management experience in a global organization, including 3+ years focused on data platforms, ML infrastructure, or related fields.
- Experience creating Epics, Stories, and Features, and supporting testing within the SDLC process.
- Strong technical background and proficiency with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and Confluence.
- Familiarity with FinTech/Insurtech, cloud computing, insurance, or financial services is desirable.
- Proven track record of managing product backlogs, roadmaps, and feature delivery.
- Experience working with distributed teams and driving consensus across stakeholders.
- Insurance industry experience is a plus.
