Contract Opportunity: PHP / Perl Application Support Engineer


We are currently hiring an experienced Application Support / Development Engineer for a long-term onsite contract based in Helsinki, Finland. This role requires strong hands-on expertise across PHP, Perl, MySQL, Shell scripting, and Linux, along with solid exposure to ITSM/ITIL processes and AMS / AD / AM delivery models.


Location & Engagement Details

  • Location: Helsinki, Finland
  • Work Mode: Onsite
  • Contract Duration: 6–12 months (extendable / renewable)
  • Experience Required: 4–6 years
  • Max Vendor Bill Rate: As per market rate
  • Language Requirement: English


Core Competencies & Technical Skills

Mandatory Technical Skills

  • Unix / Linux Shell scripting and text processing tools
  • PHP (versions 5–8) – web application development and support
  • MySQL 8 – database development and maintenance
  • Perl programming
  • RedHat Linux environment

Process & Delivery Knowledge

  • Mature understanding of ITSM / ITIL processes
  • Hands-on experience in Application Maintenance & Support (AMS)
  • Exposure to Application Development / Application Management (AD / AM) delivery models


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse customer requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions
  • Provide technical estimations based on requirement analysis
  • Design and develop solutions by understanding business logic and application workflows
  • Manage and support applications across the SDLC lifecycle
  • Collaborate across multiple teams with different technical capabilities
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in supporting enterprise applications

  • Proven experience working within AMS or combined AD/AM teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Process-driven mindset with the ability to work in structured support environments
  • Comfortable working in an onsite, customer-facing role
