AXA Ireland are recruiting for a new role as Data & AI Governance Senior Manager, who will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our data strategy while ensuring data is managed as a trusted, strategic asset across the organisation.
Reporting into our Chief Data Officer, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive data strategy, ensuring that data is not just well governed, but also effectively leveraged to drive business transformation, innovation, and competitive advantage. You will design and embed a robust data governance framework that ensures high quality, accessible, and compliant data, while also leading initiatives that enhance data culture, enabling self-service analytics, and support AI-driven decision making.
This role requires a strategic mindset with the ability to connect governance, analytics, and business objectives, ensuring AXA Ireland maximised the value of its data assets. You will work closely with senior leaders, business units, and technical teams to define and implement data policies, standards, and best practices that align with AXA's vision and regulatory requirements.

You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our head office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.
What You'll Be Doing
Develop and drive AXA Ireland's data strategy, ensuring data is leveraged to enable business transformation, innovation, and competitive differentiation.
Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive data governance strategy & framework, including policies, standards, and controls for AXA Ireland.
Establish and monitor data quality metrics, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance requirements.
Lead the rollout of data ownership and stewardship models, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities across the organisation.
Manage data cataloguing, metadata management, and data lineage tools.
Partner with the Data & Analytics team to ensure data assets are governed effectively across their lifecycle.
Contribute to data governance initiatives that drive operational efficiency and reduce risks associated with ineffective data management.
Support business units in ensuring cost-effective data governance solutions are implemented.
Qualifications
7 + years of experience in strategy, data governance, data management, data strategy, or related role.
A degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, or a related field; with a Data Management or Data Governance certification (e.g., DAMA CDMP, DCAM, Collibra Ranger Certification) beneficial.
Proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks and policies in large organisations.
Experience leading, developing and managing a team.
Familiarity with data management tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and In-depth knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
Expertise in data quality management practices, data risk management and control frameworks.
Ability to design and implement data governance policies and standards.
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
