Our client is a top financial institution with significant North American holdings. They have operations across most major verticals, including institutional & corporate, wealth management, private client, commercial banking, treasury, and retail banking. 
 
Introduction: Robertson is seeking a skilled Data Analyst I to join our clientin support of an existingvacancy.

Contract Period: 5 months
Pay Rate: TBD
Location: Waterloo, ON
Location Type: Hybrid
Business Hours: Monday-Friday;Core Business Hours

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in requirement collection, performing research and analysis in order to understand business issues
  • Actively participates on cross-functional project teams and support development of analytics solutions
  • Owns and manages assigned tasks
  • Works on problems of limited scope / complexity, following standard practices and procedures
  • Developing ability to generate relevant, actionable insights based on iterative data analysis, translate data-driven output into business language, and to make appropriate recommendations to teammates
  • Ability to work with business to identify business opportunities for revenue generation, efficiency improvement in business operations and business insights extraction by leveraging data & analytics
  • Under guidance or senior team members, provides analysis on simple/basic business needs/requirements and provide inputs to support potential analytics solutions or insights needed
  • Ability to communicate analytics insights and solutions to business and facilitate the execution/implementation
  • Communicates business analytics and requirements of limited complexity to more senior team members and junior business partners
  • Participates in meetings
  • Works closely with subject matter experts to understand business needs and analytics solutions/insights
  • Gains fundamental understanding of the business value chain and customer lifecycle for the projects they are supporting
  • Curious and learns to ask the right kinds of questions of peers and customers to gain knowledge
  • Shares information and provides rationale behind ideas
  • Builds stable working relationships with cross-functional peers, begins to establish a broader internal network

  • Gather, document, and analyze business requirements with assistance from senior team members
  • Development of business use cases, translation of business problem/requirements into analytics tasks under guidance of senior team members
  • Work under guidance of senior BA/Data scientist on development of conceptual prototypes and mock-ups of analytics solutions
  • Ability to interact with business on explaining analytics solutions and presenting analytics insights
  • Develop ongoing mechanisms to present analytics solutions and insights in a way than can be easily understood by business
Experience & Qualification Requirement:
  • Minimum Bachelors degree in Finance, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, or Engineering; or degree with equivalent technical experience
  • 2 Years of Data Analyst Experience
  • Basic knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, PowerBI
  • Basic knowledge and interest in data transformation to support BI Reporting
  • Basic understanding of SQL programming to run AdHoc reporting queries
  • Basic knowledge of AI toolkits
  • Interest in Data work and Data Analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Experience developing mock-ups or prototypes
  • Understanding of business process design
  • Written and verbal communication expert
