Job Purpose

The IT Project Manager – Consultant is responsible for managing, coordinating, and monitoring a portfolio of IT projects from initiation through closure. The role ensures projects are delivered on schedule, within scope, and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives, while maintaining high standards of quality, security, and stakeholder satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Portfolio Management

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of IT projects in line with established IT Project Management methodologies.
  • Ensure projects meet defined objectives, timelines, budgets, and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Prepare and maintain project initiation documents, status reports, closure reports, and related documentation.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, business units, and IT teams.
  • Manage vendor engagements and ensure contractual obligations and service expectations are met.
  • Act as a primary point of communication between project stakeholders, vendors, and management.

Execution & Coordination

  • Coordinate activities across multiple IT teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct and participate in project, team, and client meetings to ensure alignment and clarity.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, risks, and issues to management and stakeholders.

Risk, Compliance & Governance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to minimize exposure and ensure continuity.
  • Ensure adherence to information security policies, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to internal/external auditors and compliance teams when required.

Leadership & Problem Solving

  • Address complex project challenges, including personnel and delivery issues, with discretion and professionalism.
  • Understand system architecture, technical constraints, and dependencies to support effective problem resolution.
  • Promote continuous improvement and professional development for self and project teams.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (mandatory).
  • Project Management certification (PMI/PMP preferred).
  • MBA or Master’s Degree (advantageous).
  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing IT projects within banking or financial services environments.
  • Exposure to systems technology, banking operations, and IT management is highly desirable.
