We’re currently hiring a Development Team Lead who can drive execution, raise the bar on quality, and lead a team with clarity and accountability.
This role is for the top 3%: someone who combines strong Shopify engineering with real leadership and delivery ownership.
Your Role
As our Development Team Lead, you will:
- Lead and manage the development team and ensure consistent delivery
- Own project execution: scope control, priorities, deadlines, and release planning
- Create a clear workflow between Development, QA, and Project Management
- Identify blockers early and solve them fast (or escalate clearly)
- Maintain high engineering standards: code reviews, performance, Shopify best practices
- Coach developers and improve team efficiency and accountability
This is a hands-on leadership role where ownership and delivery are non-negotiable.
What We’re Looking For
You have:
- 4+ years of experience in Shopify development (themes + custom work)
- Strong skills in Liquid, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and the Shopify ecosystem
- Proven experience leading a team (planning, decision-making, follow-up)
- Strong communication skills and the ability to align with PMs and stakeholders
- A structured mindset: tickets, sprints, clear definitions of done
- The ability to balance speed + quality without chaos
- Experience with Shopify Plus
- Performance optimization experience (Core Web Vitals, speed, SEO basics)
- QA/release management experience
Nice to Have
- Theme architecture experience (scalable, reusable components)
