Senior/Principal PHP Engineer
for a full-time, remote position (40 hours per week) based in Argentina.
Our client is a leading expert network connecting business and government professionals with industry and subject-matter experts to answer research questions.
Requirements
7-10 years of professional experience developing web-based & CLI-based applications in PHP frameworks.
Experience using open-source PHP (Symfony and its components and/or API platform, or heavy design pattern PHP framework).
Understanding scaling in LAMP: leveraging Redis, RabbitMQ, and SupervisorD.
Understanding how to leverage APMs, such as Datadog, to isolate performance bottlenecks.
Solid knowledge of Git concepts such as branching, merging, pull requests, and conflict resolution utilizing Bitbucket or GitHub.
Knowledge of Linux, command line, SSH, SFTP, and SCP.
Problem-solving skills and a proactive work style.
Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
Independent contributor with a drive.
Collaborative and teamwork-oriented.
Be accountable for work and take ownership of tasks.
Strategic thinking with proven practical leadership skills.
NICE TO HAVE
Experience designing fault-tolerant architecture on cloud deployments.
Experience leveraging issue-tracking systems and wikis for documentation (Jira/Confluence).
Exposure to Azure, AWS, and GCP PaaS.
Understanding crafting architecture diagrams in Visio or LucidChart.
Responsibilities
Optimize and deliver new features on PHP 8-based CRM applications.
Help to identify and remediate issues, including refactoring complex SQL/stored procedures.
Operate with large database schemas, including adding and updating tables and rows using MS SQL Server.
Write unit tests and documentation.
Work in an agile environment (2-week cadence) with internal product managers and designers.
Coordinate with business operations staff, QA, application support, and DevOps teams to triage bugs.
