As a Data Sciences Analyst at Air Canada, you will be embedded in cross-functional team and will contribute to analytical needs for initiatives using Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning and Business Acumen to derive structure and knowledge from raw data and business rules. We are looking for an analyst to help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better products and services. Your primary focus will be in applying data science techniques, doing exploratory and statistical analysis on Air Canada’s products and services.

You will join the Data Science & AI Team, a central group within Air Canada’s IT organization, building machine learning and optimization solutions for internal business units such as Revenue Management, Network Planning, Operations, Maintenance, and Cargo but also customer facing solution. Collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential as you deliver production-grade applications.

All initiatives follow an agile methodology, with 2-to-3-week sprints and incremental releases leading to the final production deployment. This approach fosters continuous improvement, adaptability, and close alignment with business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Solves tactical problems with supervision and guidance, contributing to data science scope.
  • Communicates progress and obstacles, proposes solutions, and seeks feedback as needed.
  • Presents and explains technical work to both business clients and team members, addressing technical questions and providing clear explanations.
  • Quickly identifies or learns appropriate tools for tasks, demonstrating familiarity with core modelling techniques and machine learning methods.
  • Visualizes data and modelling results using standard libraries.
  • Ensures data integrity for analysis and modelling, merging relevant data sources, testing data quality, and resolving anomalies.
  • Writes reusable, version-controlled code that is scalable and deployable across the enterprise, with guidance from senior team members.
  • Contribute and maintain technical documentations
  • Collaborates in a multidisciplinary environment with experts in machine learning, data engineering, and design, sharing acquired expertise.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field, or equivalent 3+ years of relevant working experience.
  • Some professional experience applying machine learning techniques and statistics to deliver measurable improvements in business outcomes is an asset.
  • Foundation in statistics, probability, and linear algebra.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).Skilled in data wrangling and feature engineering.
  • Understanding concept of basic Operation Research technics is an asset.
  • Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment.
