Senior DevOps/Back End Engineer - AWS, Python, Pulumi, RoR – Remote, Finland


Our client, an established yet fast-moving international startup headquartered in Helsinki, is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer / Back End Developer to strengthen their passionate tech team. What You'll Do:

  • Design, optimise, and manage secure, scalable AWS systems.
  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Pulumi (Python).
  • Enhance monitoring, alerting, logging, and disaster recovery systems.
  • Manage Kubernetes clusters and containerised applications (Docker, Docker Compose).
  • Support developers with Docker setups and problem-solving.
  • Improve and streamline CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
  • Maintain and optimise data infrastructure: Elastic search, PostgreSQL, Redis.
  • Collaborate closely with developers on Ruby on Rails applications and microservices.
  • Advocate for best practices in security, compliance, and continuity.


Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps and/or Back End Engineering roles
  • Very strong, hands-on expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure (this is a must)
  • Proven experience designing, building, and operating production-grade AWS environments
  • Deep understanding of core AWS services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC, networking, and security
  • Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience is mandatory
  • Pulumi with Python is required (this is not optional)
  • Ability to model, deploy, and maintain complex cloud infrastructure using code
  • Python proficiency is required, especially in the context of infrastructure and automation
  • Solid experience with Docker, Docker Compose, and containerised environments
  • Experience managing Kubernetes clusters in production
  • Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
  • Hands on experience with data infrastructure: Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, Redis
  • Experience collaborating with Ruby on Rails applications and microservices
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, reliability, scalability, and best practices
