What You'll Accomplish
- Take responsibility for the hardware system design and realisation of a complex, large-scale electronics control system.
- Design, build and test electronic products using your skills in analogue and digital circuit design together with industry-standard CAD packages and test equipment.
- Write the documentation of your electronics circuits and verification tests.
- Develop your experience in a broad range of electronics engineering subject areas.
- Maintain the multidisciplinary collaboration with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and physicists, working towards a common goal.
- Play a key role in building control systems for quantum computers.
- Maintain UQs' position of using state-of-the-art electronics solutions.
- Help in the planning and scheduling of projects, reporting progress and issues.
- Engage with project planning activities, risk management, and scheduling requirements.
- Help with fast turnaround proof of concepts and feasibility discussions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the firmware and software used to control quantum computers.
The 3 Most Critical Attributes We'll Use to Compare Candidates:
- Excellent knowledge of electronics circuit theory, including programming and architecture design skills.
- Good knowledge of designing, developing and testing digital logic circuits and systems using hardware description language (HDL) tools.
- Familiarity with PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, good manufacturing process knowledge and excellent verification/debug skills using electronics test equipment.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in high-performance Electronics Design, including Digital, Analogue and Embedded.
- Experience in PCB Design using ECAD (e.g., Altium, or similar).
- Use of spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes and VNA.
- Experience in FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real-time systems.
- Experience with designing and application of wire harnesses.
- Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
- Demonstrate a strong discipline for thorough documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Team Player.
- At least 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficient in German and English.
- A background in one of RF engineering, Research, Metrology and instrumentation.
- Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital and EMC.
- Experience of C and/or scripting languages, e.g., Python and Matlab.
- Experience with LabVIEW.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Team and/or project management experience.
