Back End Developer

Senior Backend Developer | Kotlin, Spring Boot, Kafka, GCP, Microservices, CQRS/Event Sourcing, Docker, K8s, Firebase, ArgoCD, Terraform | Fintech Start-Up | €105k

I'm currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong JVM & Cloud-native, Event Sourcing & Terraform expertise to join my client, a fast-growing trading company building a SaaS platform for high-frequency, high-velocity traders. Their platform empowers more than 6,000 active traders in over 100 countries to monetize their trades efficiently and securely.

The backend consists out of 15 microservices built with Kotlin, Kafka as the messaging queue, and everything is hosted in GCP. This is the kind of role where you can truly take ownership. You'll help mature the real-time, high performance backend services, lead new initiatives, and have a direct impact on the platform's technical direction.

Your profile:

You are a senior Java/Kotlin developer with deep expertise in building high-performance distributed, backend services that process and analyze large volumes of data (real-time). You have a proven track record working with event sourcing and Cloud-native infrastructure, designing scalable system architectures and optimizing complex codebases for speed, reliability, and maintainability.

Over the years, you’ve worked extensively with Java and/or Kotlin, with modern frameworks and backend technologies, consistently applying best practices for distributed systems, data processing, and performance tuning.

Furthermore:

• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in backend development
• Strong expertise in JVM, CI/CD, Terraform. Kafka = a plus
• 2 years working experience with Event driven/sourcing architecture (e.g. CQRS)
• Experience or strong affinity with distributed systems, data-intensive applications, or fintech environments.
• Experience with Cloud native development (GCP/AWS)
• You are located in The Netherlands or you are willing to relocate.
