What is the role?
We're looking for a Product Designer to join our team and make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, highly collaborative product environment🚀. In this role, you'll help shape the core experience of cmBuilder by crafting new experiences and continuously improving existing ones to make the product better for our users.
You'll work closely with product, engineering, and other stakeholders to turn business goals, user needs, and creative strategy into user-centered, effective, intuitive, and visually polished experiences.
Just like us, you enjoy learning, being challenged, and challenging others to grow. You bring curiosity, strong opinions loosely held, and creative ideas to the table, using thoughtful design to solve real problems.🎯
Responsibilities
- Make a visible impact on the product by improving everyday usability and shaping new features, including ambiguous projects where you help define and craft solutions in close partnership with product management
- Work directly with customers by planning and facilitating research, learning their language, and translating real-world problems into clear, actionable design direction
- Operate with a high level of ownership and autonomy, driving projects forward, asking the right questions, making informed design decisions, and clearly communicating the reasoning behind them
- Use a range of prototyping methods for iterative feedback and gathering insights
- Communicate design concepts and decisions clearly to stakeholders, engineers, and collaborators
- Collaborate closely with teammates, constructively challenging each other and holding the bar high for quality and craft
- Contribute to and evolve our design system, using it consistently, maintaining it, and identifying opportunities to improve and extend it
- 3+ years of experience in Product/UX/UI design
- Strong user-centered design approach, with experience solving problems in complex or technical domains
- Comfortable working in ambiguity, collaborating to help define problems and requirements, and not just execute predefined tasks
- Has a technical mindset and curiosity about how designs get built. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should ask good questions and collaborate effectively with engineers
- Demonstrates curiosity and hands-on experience with emerging AI tools, especially for accelerating workflows, enhancing creativity, and gathering feedback
- Experience working with design systems, including designing at a pattern level and creating frameworks others can build on
- Strong UI craft, with a clear eye for clean design and disciplined use of proven industry and internal patterns
- Knowledge of the construction industry is a plus, but not required
Benefits
- $75,000 - $115,000 CAD yearly salary range (commensurate with relevant experience)
