About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Engineer to join Cisco’s Web Engineering team. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the web infrastructure that supports our digital marketing initiatives and public-facing websites. As a DevOps champion, you will be responsible for managing the entire web stack across all environments, collaborating closely with vendors, and ensuring seamless deployment through continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. You will work alongside internal teams such as web engineering, IT, and Security Operations to build resilient, secure, and high-performing web applications. Leveraging AI-augmented observability and assurance tools, you will proactively monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and optimize infrastructure to ensure maximum reliability and scalability. The role requires developing AI literacy and prompt engineering skills to effectively utilize AI-driven automation and insights within the DevOps workflow. This position offers flexibility to work from anywhere within the United States, providing an excellent opportunity for professionals seeking a dynamic, impactful role in a leading technology company.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience as a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineer
- Hands-on experience with Content Management Systems such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and WordPress
- Proficiency with AWS cloud services and tools including EC2, ALB, NLB, VPC, EKS, ECS, Route53, S3, EBS, EFS
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and EKS
- Familiarity with version control systems such as GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket, or SVN
- Knowledge of web servers including Apache and Nginx
- Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, firewalls, and iptables within cloud and Linux environments
- Configuration management expertise, preferably with Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Selenium, SonarQube, and Gherkin
- Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) like Akamai or Amazon CloudFront
- Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks, including IAM, cloud auditing, and monitoring tools
- Familiarity with AI-powered observability platforms such as Splunk Observability Cloud and ThousandEyes
- Basic understanding of AI, machine learning, prompt engineering, and responsible AI practices
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
- Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Maintain and optimize the web infrastructure across multiple environments, ensuring high availability and performance
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to manage production environments and deployments
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes
- Monitor system health and performance using AI-augmented observability tools, proactively identifying and resolving issues
- Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using tools like Ansible, Packer, and related automation frameworks
- Ensure security best practices are followed, including managing IAM roles, firewalls, and compliance requirements
- Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and incident response activities
- Work closely with web engineering and security teams to implement new features and enhancements
- Develop documentation and knowledge base articles to support operational excellence
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and AI advancements relevant to DevOps and web infrastructure
- Engage in prompt engineering and AI literacy development to leverage AI tools effectively within workflows
- Competitive salary within the range of $183,800 to $263,600, commensurate with experience and location
