Lead AI Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead AI Engineer to drive the development and implementation of cutting-edge AI solutions, including Generative AI and Agentic AI. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic vision. You will architect scalable AI systems, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate closely with stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Lead AI software development projects from concept through production and ongoing support
- Define and design the architecture of AI solutions and actively drive their implementation (hands-on contribution expected)
- Set technical direction, establish engineering best practices, and mentor team members
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into effective technical solutions
- Act as a bridge between business/product stakeholders and engineering teams, clearly communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Stay up to date with the latest AI trends and emerging technologies, balancing innovation with operational pragmatism
Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience developing production-grade AI/ML systems
- 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership or team lead role, familiar with Agile methodologies
- Strong proficiency in Python and its ecosystem for web development, AI/ML, and data engineering
- Deep expertise in LLMs, including:
- Open- and closed-source models
- Advanced prompt engineering
- RAG architectures
- Agentic AI
- Document processing
- Vector and hybrid search
- Guardrails, observability, and monitoring
- LLM fine-tuning and evaluation
- Proven experience delivering AI/ML projects from PoC to production with continuous improvements
- Strong expertise in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and related ML platforms (e.g., Vertex AI)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience leading discussions with clients and internal teams
