An exciting opportunity exists for a DevOps Engineer to join a large, complex enterprise technology environment supporting business-critical, customer-facing platforms. This role sits within a DevOps & Platforms Support function and plays a key part in ensuring application platforms are secure, reliable, scalable, and available at all times.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end creation, operation, and continuous improvement of cloud-based application infrastructure. Working closely with software engineering, architecture, security, and reliability teams, you will enable efficient and repeatable delivery across the application lifecycle while maintaining strong governance and operational standards.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys owning technical outcomes, solving complex platform issues, and contributing to continuous improvement in large-scale environments.

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Proven experience as a DevOps or Platform Engineer in a large, complex enterprise environment
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including (but not limited to):
• CloudFormation, CDK, EC2, S3, RDS, ECS, Lambda, IAM, Route53, ELB, Elastic Beanstalk
• Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
• Strong CI/CD experience using tools such as GitLab, Jenkins, or similar
• Experience with containerisation and runtime environments (Docker, ECS, EKS, Kubernetes)
• Strong Linux skills and scripting capability
• Experience implementing observability practices (metrics, logs, alerts, SLOs)

Highly Regarded

• Experience supporting high-availability, always-on operational systems
• Exposure to highly regulated or governance-heavy environments
• Understanding of cloud cost management and optimisation at scale
• Experience operating within hybrid environments (cloud and on-prem integration)

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering & Operations

• Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure and application platforms end-to-end
• Install, configure, upgrade, administer, monitor, and maintain supported platforms
• Ensure platforms meet availability, performance, resilience, security, and cost expectations
• Participate in incident, problem, and root cause analysis, driving issues through to resolution

DevOps & Automation

• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment patterns aligned to enterprise standards
• Automate repetitive operational tasks to improve reliability, consistency, and security
• Enable self-service deployment capabilities for engineering teams
• Promote modern DevOps and platform engineering practices across delivery teams

Cloud & Infrastructure as Code

• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and CloudFormation
• Develop reusable, modular infrastructure patterns and golden pipelines
• Partner with cloud platform and SRE teams to align on shared services, observability, and standards

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Implement secure-by-design practices including least-privilege IAM, secrets management, and scanning gates
• Work with security and governance teams to ensure audit-ready platforms and controls
• Contribute to architecture reviews, compliance evidence, and assurance activities

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work closely with software engineering squads to co-design delivery pipelines and runtime environments
• Engage with product owners and delivery leads to translate platform capabilities into delivery outcomes
• Collaborate with architects to align solutions to enterprise reference architectures and roadmaps
• Liaise with cloud providers, SaaS vendors, and third-party partners as required
