Network Engineer (Data Transmission Network)

Mission

As a Data Transmission Network Engineer, you will ensure the continuous and reliable operation of communication platforms by monitoring networks, resolving incidents, coordinating maintenance, and supporting internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure the correct functioning of all Datacom platforms (LAN/WAN, telecom and transmission systems).
• Detect, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents and problems.
• Escalate complex issues to network architects, product owners, or external partners when needed.
• Coordinate and follow up on planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
• Communicate with stakeholders during incidents, changes, and planned works.
• Provide operational support to other teams and external parties.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and operational records.
• Execute administrative and quality-related tasks for Datacom platforms.
• Actively contribute to process improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Technical Environment

• LAN/WAN and enterprise networks
• Transmission and telecom technologies: SDH, DWDM, IP/MPLS, VoIP
• Network monitoring and management systems
• Ticketing, documentation, and SLA/KPI tools

Profile & Requirements

• Practical operational knowledge of modern networks: LAN/WAN, SDH, DWDM, IP/MPLS, VoIP
• Experience in a NOC, helpdesk, or network operations role is a strong asset.
• Fluent in Dutch or French, with good knowledge of the other language.
• Good working knowledge of English (mandatory).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently, methodically, and under pressure.
• Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and service mindset.
• Flexible and stress-resistant in a 24/7 operational context.
