About Us

Are you looking for an opportunity to shape the technical foundation of a fast-growing fintech company? Do you enjoy designing scalable, secure systems and solving complex architectural challenges? If yes, then Wallester AS might be the perfect place for you!

Wallester AS is an Estonian licensed payment service provider that develops financial digital technology and issues VISA cards. Since 2018, we have been an official Visa partner and Visa FinTech Fast Track Member issuing physical and virtual cards of any type: debit cards, credit cards, prepaid cards, and cards for business. Our distinctive advantage is a robust API-driven platform built by our in-house engineering teams and used by partners across Europe.

We are continuing to evolve our engineering organization and are establishing an Architecture team to support the long-term growth, scalability, and quality of our platform.

About The Role

As a Software Architect (Backend) at Wallester AS, you will be responsible for defining, evolving, and maintaining the overall backend architecture of our platform. You will work closely with the Lead Architect and the Head of Engineering, as part of the Architecture team, to ensure architectural consistency, scalability, security, and long-term technical sustainability across the company.

You will collaborate with engineering team leads, senior engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate business, regulatory, and operational requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.

This role is not a people management position, but it requires strong technical leadership, system-level thinking, and the ability to influence engineering decisions across multiple teams. A key part of your mission will be to raise the architectural maturity of the organization and to help grow existing engineering talent into Tech Leads and Architect roles over time.
