Job Description
Elsewhere Entertainment is looking for a Level Designer to join the development of a new IP.
Feed your creativity while collaborating with our team of highly-skilled developers to build something innovative, exhilarating, and expansively entertaining!
As a member of the Level Design department, you’ll be crafting immersive, engaging, and visually compelling gameplay environments. You will be responsible for designing large-scale, open world levels for both single-player and cooperative game modes, ensuring they are fun, realistic, and aligned with the creative vision of the project.
As a member of the project, you’ll help take the studio and our game from great to even better—with a focus on inclusivity, mutual respect (for ourselves and our players), thoughtfulness, empathy, professionalism, and collaboration.
What You Bring To The Table
Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Collaborate with design leadership, artists, and fellow level designers to deliver high-quality environments.
- Build and iterate on level geometry using industry-standard tools.
- Ensure levels support gameplay mechanics, narrative goals, and pacing.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and contribute to team-wide design discussions.
- Manage your own tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Communicate progress and challenges across disciplines.
Minimum Requirements
- 1 to 2 years in a junior Level Design position
- Experience using game engines to make game levels
- Experience working with teams for either professional or personal projects
- Bachelor’s degree
- Critical thinking skills
- Communication skills
- Understanding the fundamentals of Level Design
- Game engine software (unreal, or Unity)
- Gameplay scripting experience
- 3D content creation packages. (3ds Max, Maya, or Blender)
- Photoshop
- The ability to collaborate and thrive as part of a creative team
- Creativity in problem solving and a positive, respectful team-first attitude
- Organization methods and the capability to meet deadlines
- Comfort with self-critique and accepting outside feedback
- A habit of regularly playing and understanding modern video games
- Enjoyment of playing a variety of video game genres and titles
- An interest in RPGs
