About the Role
AI is becoming StormGeo’s new operating system. We are fusing generative AI with the science that powers global weather, maritime, and energy intelligence. Our engineers and domain experts are scaling AI from pilots to production, embedding automation, agentic workflows, and governance into every StormGeo platform—from forecasting models to fleet optimization and sustainability analytics.
As an AI Engineer, you will design, build, and operate production-grade AI capabilities used daily by shipping and energy customers worldwide. This is neither a research role nor a chatbot-only role. You will take LLM-powered systems from prototype to reliable, observable services running in real customer workflows.
📍 This position is based in Bergen or Oslo, Norway.
Main responsibilities
- Build and deploy LLM-powered features such as assistants, tools, and automated workflows.
- Design RAG and agent-based systems.
- Migrate prototypes into production services with clear service-level objectives.
- Reduce hallucinations through evaluation of pipelines and regression testing.
- Implement security and governance controls.
- Integrate and maintain code assistant workflows.
- Drive end-to-end quality improvements in collaboration with User Experience and Product Management teams through structured evaluations, user feedback, and data-informed iteration.
Core Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in Software Development or Machine Learning, with hands-on experience in LLM applications, retrieval systems, and tool/agent integration.
- Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript, with solid experience in API development, vector search, and prompt engineering and evaluation tooling.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English, enabling fluent communication with colleagues across the globe.
