Sephora SEA’s omni channel business spans over 8 countries (Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines) with 100+ stores and boasts some global flagships such as ION and Raffles City in Singapore, F88 in Kuala Lumpur and Pitt Street in Sydney. Sephora SEA is experiencing rapid growth in the region with new store openings and business channels (i.e., Click and collect and marketplace).
The Opportunity
Sephora Digital’s Technology team builds products that power our business across South East Asia & Oceania. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the team responsible for building products and features around cart, checkout and payments for our website & apps. This includes functional areas such as owning cart functionality, payments across 17 different markets and other checkout mechanisms. This is a key position in the team as we increase our capacity to deliver an ambitious roadmap.
What You Will Do
You will be designing features, building clean, highly scalable systems, managing complex integrations for cart and checkout pages for our multi-tenant in-house build e-commerce engine. You make it possible for us to deliver an engaging customer experience to our many fans, and ensure that the online store remains our flagship in South East Asia. Reporting to an Engineering Manager you will work on highly visible, well resourced projects and build products which directly impact our revenue and customer satisfaction - two of our key metrics for success. You Will Be Working On Technology Products Relating To
- Optimizing the checkout funnel to reduce abandonment and improve click-through rate
- Building and maintaining a flexible payment backend that supports a variety of global and localized payment methods in our many markets
- Work on checkout related components like Address selection, shipping and self collection options, Gifting Options, Gift Card, Fraud prevention etc
- Optimizing performance of heavily utilized operations using metric driven improvements such as caching, query analysis and service topology etc
- And as part of the company’s vision, work towards the goal of providing our customers with a seamless omnichannel experience.
- You have at least 3+ years of experience working on large scale, complex web applications
- You have demonstrated experience in designing, building and maintaining scalable, adaptable APIs in production environments
- You value core software engineering practices (i.e. Data Structures, Algorithms, Scalability Security, Testing)
- You would ideally have experience integrating payment gateways or service providers such as PayPal, Adyen etc
- You are proficient in Java and Spring Boot
- You have built engaging UIs with one or more modern Javascript frameworks Angular / Vue / React / Ember etc
- You are a team player and happy to communicate with the other teams in the company (Product Managers, UI / UX Designers, and more importantly fellow engineers locally and abroad)
- We work with Java/ Ruby on Rails / js and write tests on a daily basis. Experience with these technologies and tools are desired
- You probably have a computer science degree or relevant work-experience as a software engineer, but passion and demonstrated expertise are what we care about.
